Cindy Winters knows a thing or two about what kids look for in a cookie -- and just as important, what they avoid.

In her five years as a contestant in the Grandma's and Grandpa's Cookie Contest at the Kern County Fair, the 67-year-old Bakersfield resident said she has learned to keep it simple.
